Foundation repair
We find what's moving under a cracked slab edge or behind a stepped crack in the block, then repair the footing or wall instead of just filling the crack.
AJ West Palm Beach Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor based in West Palm Beach, FL. We repair crumbling mortar joints, brick and foundations, and build block walls, paver driveways and stone work for houses across the city.

I started this business in West Palm Beach in 2017, and most of our calls still come from here, from homeowners with crumbling mortar, a tired garden wall, or a paver, block or stone project they've had in mind for a while. The houses run from older concrete block homes finished in stucco to newer places with paver driveways, brick planters and outdoor kitchens, and we do the same work across the water in Palm Beach and up the road in Riviera Beach.
Price comes down to how much is damaged once we open it up, how much material the job takes and whether it needs a permit, and the schedule mostly turns on permit review and inspections. Your own number comes from the estimate, after I've seen the job. On a block house, a crack in the stucco is sometimes the wall underneath, so we find out which it is before we patch anything.
When a job needs one, we check with the city's Building Division, pull the permit and set up the inspections, so the paperwork isn't left on your desk.
To pull permits here, the city has contractors register with a state or county license, a local business tax receipt, and liability and workers' comp insurance. We're licensed and fully insured.
I come out to look at the job and write the estimate, and our own masons do the work. If it's smaller than you feared, or bigger, I'll tell you then, not halfway through.
We find what's moving under a cracked slab edge or behind a stepped crack in the block, then repair the footing or wall instead of just filling the crack.
Loose crowns, cracked brick and open joints near the roofline let water into a chimney, so we rebuild the damaged rows of brick and reset the crown before it spreads.
We grind out worn mortar to a clean depth and pack in new mortar matched to your brick, so the wall sheds water again and the repair blends in.
When a brick cracks, comes loose or has its face flaking off, we cut it out and set a close match, then deal with whatever made it fail.
We dig out, pack a solid base and lay pavers with a firm edge so the driveway holds its shape under cars, and we reset sunken sections on existing ones.
For yards that step down or need a raised bed, we build retaining walls with drainage behind them, because trapped water is what usually pushes one over.
On older brick and stone, we clean, repoint and replace failed pieces with materials that suit the original, so the wall looks like itself again rather than patched.
We build masonry fireplaces indoors and out, from the firebox to the stone or brick face, and settle the layout and chimney with you before the first brick goes down.
We set stone veneer on block walls, columns and fireplace fronts over metal mesh and a base coat, because veneer only stays put if what's under it does.
Privacy and garden walls go up on a poured footing, with steel and concrete filling the block's hollow centers where needed, then get stucco or paint to match your house.
For additions and raised floors, we lay the block foundation wall on its footing, level and square row by row, so the slab or framing on top starts out true.
We build the block base for grills, counters and bars, finish it in stone, stucco or brick, and plan the openings for the grill, doors and utilities up front.
Paver, brick or concrete walkways from the driveway to the door or to the pool get a packed base and a slight slope, so they drain instead of holding puddles.
We build new brick garden walls, columns and planters with full mortar joints and a footing sized for the load, so they go up straight and stay solid.
Natural stone walls, steps and columns are fitted and laid by hand, which takes more time than block, so we pick the stone and settle the layout with you first.
When only some joints are cracked or turning to sand, we clear out just those and refill them with matching mortar, which costs less than redoing the whole wall.
Send the form and we'll get back to you within one business day. Then I come out, look at the job and give you the estimate, free and with no obligation.
A line like "crumbling mortar on the back wall" or "sunken pavers by the garage" is plenty, because I'll see the rest when I'm standing there.
I'll tell you what needs fixing now and what can wait, so you can put your money on the part that matters first and plan the rest.
Once you say yes, you get a start day and the order the work happens in, and if something has to move, you hear it from me ahead of time.
Straight answers on city permits, the new small-job exemption and flood zones, which decide how a masonry job here gets started.
Structural work and driveways do, because the city says structural work, fences and driveways need a permit no matter what they cost. That takes in foundation repair, foundation walls and new paver driveways. Smaller jobs like repointing aren't spelled out in the city's permit FAQ, so I check with the city before we start rather than guess.
It can if the job is on a single-family house and the work is valued under $7,500. That exemption started July 1, 2026, needs a written request to the city from you or your contractor, and leaves out the structural and driveway work above and any property partly or fully in a flood hazard area. Splitting a job to stay under it isn't allowed.
Look it up on the Flood Information page on the city's Development Services site, which lets owners check a property's flood zone. The city says flood maps keep changing, so check again even if you looked a while back. For a masonry job, a property in a flood hazard area can't use the small-job exemption.
The city says unpermitted work that needed a permit either gets a permit to remove it or a penalty fee well above the regular permit fee. A hearing officer can also set fines that add up daily and get recorded as a lien, which can make the house hard to sell or refinance. It's the main reason I settle the permit question before we start.
