Foundation repair
We look at cracked slabs and stepped cracks in the block above them, find what's moving, and repair what's needed, telling you plainly if it's cosmetic or structural.
AJ West Palm Beach Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor working in Lake Park, FL. We repair crumbling mortar, cracked brick and tired walls, and build new block walls, paver driveways, walkways and stone work.

We're a masonry contractor in West Palm Beach, and Lake Park is a short drive north, past Riviera Beach and next to North Palm Beach, on the same run of cities we cover down to Lantana. The price here moves with how much is really damaged once we look closely, the material you pick, the digging and hauling, and whether the job needs a permit. The schedule turns mostly on that permit and the weather, and I'll give you your own number when I come out for the estimate.
Lake Park is mostly residential streets of older concrete block houses, with shops and offices along the main roads. The calls there are what you'd expect from houses that age: sandy mortar on brick planters and steps, cracked garden and privacy walls, a tired chimney, and cracked concrete driveways people want to replace with pavers. Under nearly all of it is sandy ground, so on a wall or paver job here, the footing and base we put under it decide how long it stays straight.
The Town of Lake Park's Community Development Department handles building permits there, including structural work such as fences. When your job needs one, we check with that office, pull it and set up the inspections.
We're licensed and fully insured, and the people building your wall are our own masons, the same crew I schedule, not whoever happened to be free that week.
Summer is the wettest stretch of the year here, so we plan mortar, base and paver days around the afternoon storms and call you if weather moves a day.
We look at cracked slabs and stepped cracks in the block above them, find what's moving, and repair what's needed, telling you plainly if it's cosmetic or structural.
Chimneys here usually lose mortar at the cap and top few rows of brick first. We rebuild what's loose and reset the cap so rain stops soaking into the brick.
When joints are sandy or sunk in, we grind out the worn mortar and pack new mortar matched to the old color, so the wall sheds water again.
Cracked, flaking or loose bricks on planters, steps and walls get cut out and replaced with the closest match we can find, so the patch doesn't stand out.
We dig out, pack a firm base and lock the edges, because on sandy ground it's the base and the border that keep pavers from sinking or spreading under cars.
Where a yard steps down to a sidewalk or a neighbor's lot, we build block or stone walls with drainage behind them, since trapped water is what pushes walls over.
On older brick and block that's been patched over the years, we sort out what needs fixing now and what can wait, then repair it to match.
We build masonry fireplaces indoors and out, with the firebox, hearth and surround laid to suit the room or patio and the maker's instructions for any insert you pick.
We set stone veneer on block walls, columns and fronts over a proper backing with a drain gap at the bottom, so rain that gets behind it can get out.
For privacy and garden walls, we pour the footing, lay the block, fill it with concrete and steel where the design calls for it, and finish it with stucco.
We lay block foundation walls for additions, garages and raised slabs on a level, checked footing, because a wall that starts out of line stays out of line.
We build the block base, counters and stone or brick facing for outdoor kitchens, and leave the openings your grill, sink and gas line need so they fit later.
Paver, brick and concrete walkways get a packed base and a slight slope away from the house, so summer rain runs off instead of pooling at the door.
We build brick garden walls, planters and screen walls on a poured footing, with caps that shed water, and pick brick and mortar color with you before we start.
Natural stone steps, walls and columns are fitted by hand piece by piece, so we sort and lay out the stone on the ground before any of it goes up.
When only some joints are cracked or missing, we redo just those instead of the whole wall, and tell you straight whether the rest can wait.
Send the form and we'll get back to you within one business day to set a time. I'll come out, look at the job and give you a free estimate, with no pressure to book.
I look at the job in person and give the estimate myself, so the person pricing your wall is the one who knows how our masons will build it.
If the job is smaller than you feared, I'll say so, and if it's bigger, you hear it at the estimate, not halfway through the work.
We've done this work in West Palm Beach and the cities around it since 2017, and we're best known for showing up on the day we planned.
Straight answers on permits, exemptions, tax receipts and contractor licenses for masonry work at Lake Park homes.
It may qualify for an exemption. Since July 1, 2026, state law has required Lake Park to exempt some single-family work valued under $7,500, but only as one complete project, not a bigger job split up, and not on a property partly or fully in a flood hazard area. You or your contractor send a written request with the contract to the city's Building Division.
It can be exempt, but only if every condition is met. The wall has to keep storm surge or floodwater out, sit on a single-family, two-family or townhouse property outside a Special Flood Hazard Area, carry no load, hold no living space and meet zoning, drainage, easement and setback rules. A state-licensed contractor has to install it. Miss any condition and it needs a permit.
Anyone selling services in Palm Beach County needs a county business tax receipt, down to one-person and home-based businesses, and a business located inside Lake Park also needs one from the city. The county receipt doesn't regulate a business or vouch for its work, so treat it as a tax record, not a reference.
A certified license is statewide, so the contractor can work anywhere in Florida, while a registered license only covers the cities or counties where that contractor holds a local certificate of competency. To get certified, a contractor first has to pass a state exam. It's a fair question to ask any contractor, us included, before you hire.
These are the other cities with their own page. We're based in West Palm Beach and work across the cities around it in Palm Beach County, so if yours isn't listed, call and ask.
Mortar that's letting water in usually gets worse through the wet season, so call (561) 220-1584 or send the form and I'll come look.
