Foundation repair
We dig out and look at cracked or settling block at the base of the house first, then repair what's actually failing instead of patching the crack you can see.
AJ West Palm Beach Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor working in North Palm Beach, FL. We repair crumbling mortar and tired brick and block walls, and we build paver driveways, walkways, new walls and stone work.

We're based in West Palm Beach and work across the cities around it in Palm Beach County, including North Palm Beach and its neighbors Lake Park and Palm Beach Gardens. Here we see single-family houses next to condo buildings, plenty of lots near the water, and calls about crumbling mortar, tired garden walls and paver drives that have sunk or spread. The price moves with how much old mortar, brick or block has to come out, the material you pick, how hard the work is to reach and what turns up once it's open. The schedule usually turns on the permit and inspections more than on the masonry itself. I come out, look at it with you and give you the estimate.
The Village of North Palm Beach issues its own building permits, and new submittals go through its online portal instead of on paper. With condos and flood zone lots in the mix, the kind of property you have shapes the paperwork almost as much as the wall shapes the work, so I check what your address needs before we set a start date.
The village generally requires a building permit for any repair, replacement or improvement worth more than $1,000, and its list names driveways. When your job needs one, we pull it and set up the inspections.
The village has every contractor register on its online portal with license and insurance information, and register again each year. We're licensed and fully insured, and we're glad to show you both.
I'd rather tell you at the estimate that the job is smaller than you feared, or bigger, than have you find out halfway through. If something can wait, I'll say so.

Loose brick, a cracked concrete cap and open joints let water into a chimney, so we rebuild what's loose and repoint the rest before the damage spreads.
We grind worn joints out to a steady depth and refill them with color-matched mortar, finishing with the fine raised line tuckpointing is named for when your wall has it.
Cracked, flaking or loose bricks come out one at a time and go back with matched brick and mortar, so the repair doesn't read as a patch.
We dig out, compact a firm base and set an edge that holds the pavers in place, because a weak base is usually why paver driveways sink and spread.
On sloped or raised yards we build retaining walls on a proper footing with drainage behind them, since water trapped behind a wall is what usually pushes it over.
When older brick and block is worn in many small ways, we sort what needs work now from what can wait and restore the wall in a sensible order.
We build masonry fireplaces and outdoor fire features on a solid base with firebrick lining the firebox, and we lay out the size and spot with you before the first block goes down.
We set stone veneer over block or concrete on a roughened base coat of mortar, so each stone bonds tight and the wall looks like solid stone.
Garden, privacy and property-line walls go up on a sized footing with steel and concrete in the hollow cores, then get stucco or paint to match your house.
For additions and new structures, we lay the block foundation walls to the plans, level and square, so the framing above starts on a true base.
We build the block base, counters and stone or stucco finish for outdoor kitchens, planning the grill cutout and any utility runs before we lay the first row.
Paver, brick or stone walkways get the same packed base as a driveway, with a slight slope so water runs off instead of pooling at your door.
New brick walls, from low garden borders to full-height screens, go up on a proper footing with joints tooled tight so they shed water instead of soaking it up.
We lay natural stone for walls, steps, columns and accents, cutting and fitting each piece so the joints stay tight and the weight sits where it should.
When the bricks are sound but the mortar between them is soft or missing, we rake out the joints and repoint them, which costs far less than rebuilding.
Send the form and we'll get back to you within one business day to set a time. I come out, look at the job and give you a free estimate, with no pressure to book.
I come out to look at the job myself and give you the estimate, and our own masons do the work, so what we talk through on site is what gets built.
The estimate costs nothing and happens at your house, where I can see the wall or drive for myself. If you decide not to book, that's the end of it.
I ran the schedule for a busy construction company before I started this business in 2017, and showing up on the day we planned is a big part of what we're known for.
Here are straight answers to what North Palm Beach owners ask about condo rules, small jobs and flood zones before masonry work starts.
No. The village's permit requirements say all work in multi-family and condominium residences has to be done by a licensed contractor, and owner-builder permits aren't allowed for those properties. If you own a condo and want a wall, walkway or brick repair done, plan on hiring it out rather than pulling the permit yourself.
Possibly, but not if it's structural. The village says some small home improvement projects under $7,500 can request a permit exemption, either by the homeowner or a licensed contractor on their behalf. Structural work still needs a permit whatever it costs, and a permit has to be issued before any work starts. We check with the village before we set a date.
The village can tell you, since its Building Division gives out flood zone determinations and copies of Elevation Certificates on request. It matters because properties in the Special Flood Hazard Area may need an Elevation Certificate, a record of how high the house sits, for a building permit. If you're not sure, find out early so it doesn't hold up the permit.
