Foundation repair
For cracks in a slab or block foundation that keep growing. We find what's moving first, then repair the block and footing, because patching the crack alone just hides it.
AJ West Palm Beach Concrete & Masonry repairs crumbling mortar, cracked brick and tired walls in West Palm Beach and nearby Riviera Beach. We also repair foundations and lay driveway pavers, including on lots in a flood zone.

AJ West Palm Beach Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor in West Palm Beach, FL, handling 16 kinds of brick, block, stone and paver work for homes and properties around Palm Beach County. Most calls start with mortar crumbling out of the joints, a wall that's cracked or tired, or a new driveway, walkway or outdoor kitchen. The price comes down to the size of the job, the material you pick, how much damage turns up once we open things up and whether the work needs a permit. The schedule mostly turns on that permit and on getting materials in. Your own number comes from a free estimate on site.

For cracks in a slab or block foundation that keep growing. We find what's moving first, then repair the block and footing, because patching the crack alone just hides it.

Loose bricks, a cracked cap or open joints let water into a chimney. We rebuild only what's failing and repoint the rest, instead of tearing down sound brick.

We grind out worn mortar joints and refill them with mortar matched to your brick's color and joint shape, so the wall sheds water again and the repair blends in.

Flaking, cracked or loose bricks get cut out and replaced one at a time with the closest match we can source, leaving the sound brick around them alone.

A paver driveway is only as good as the base under it, so we dig out, pack the base in layers and set edging that keeps the pavers from creeping.

For a yard that needs to hold soil back. We build block retaining walls on a proper footing with drainage behind them, because trapped water is what pushes most walls over.

Older brick and stone that's worn, stained or patched over the years gets cleaned, repointed and repaired with matching materials, with the work kept to what actually needs it.

A new fireplace in brick or stone, indoors or out on a patio. We go over the firebox, hearth and surround with you first, so the build matches the room.

Thin stone set over block gives a house front, column or fireplace the look of full stone. Most of the work is the backing, because that's what holds it on.

Block walls for privacy, a property line or a garden, built on a poured footing with steel and concrete in the hollow cores where the wall needs it.

New block foundation walls for an addition, a raised floor or a rebuilt section, set level and square on the footing, since everything built above depends on it.

The block base, counters and stone or brick finish for an outdoor kitchen, with openings for the grill and storage measured from the appliances you've picked.

Paver, brick or stone walkways from the driveway to the door or around the yard, laid on a packed base and sloped slightly so rain runs off instead of pooling.

New brick garden, screen or boundary walls, laid on a footing with the brick pattern and mortar color picked with you, so the wall looks right next to your house.

Natural stone laid for walls, steps, columns and planters. Each stone is fit by hand, so we pick the stone and the joint style with you first.

When the mortar is crumbling in a few spots, we rake out and refill just those joints and leave the sound mortar around them alone.
I spent years running the schedule for a busy construction company and learned masonry from the masons whose days I was planning. In 2017 I started this business in West Palm Beach doing the work myself. Today our own masons do the work, and I still come out to look at the job and give the estimate.
We're best known for joint repair and solid walls, and for showing up on the day we planned. I'd rather tell you up front that a job is smaller than you feared, or bigger, than let you find out halfway through. You can read more about how we work.
You get a date and a plan for your job before we start, and a heads up if anything moves, because I ran schedules for years before I ran a crew.
I come out to look at your job myself and give the estimate, so the person who priced it is the one you talk to if a question comes up during the work.
We tell you plainly which mortar, brick or block needs work now and what's still sound, so you're not paying to redo masonry that's holding up fine.
From your first call to the final walk-through, here's what happens and who you'll be dealing with.
Call (561) 220-1584 or send the form with a few words about the job. We get back to you within one business day to set a time to come out.
I come out, look at the job and give you a free on-site estimate with no obligation. If the work needs a permit, we pull it and set up the inspections.
We set a date and order the materials ahead so the crew isn't standing around waiting. When the work's done, I walk the finished job with you.
Brick patterns, stone types, paver layouts and joint styles to look through before we talk about what suits your house.
Send the form and we get back to you within one business day. I come out, look at the job and give you a free estimate with no obligation, and you decide from there.
We're licensed and fully insured, so you're not carrying the risk if someone gets hurt or something gets damaged while our masons are working on your property.
We pick up Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 10 PM and on weekends from 6 AM to 11 PM, so you can call after work or on a Saturday.
Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee, and since I'm the one who quoted the job, any concern about the finished work comes straight to me.
Straight answers about permits, flood zones, hiring and pricing for brick, block, stone and paver work in West Palm Beach.
It depends on the job and your address, so it's worth checking before any work starts. The city's Building Division reviews building permit applications, and skipping a permit the job needed can cost you more later. We check with the office that covers your address when we come out for the estimate.
Only for some small jobs. Since July 1, 2026, the city says work on a single-family house under $7,500 can be exempt if the owner or contractor sends a written request. Structural work and driveways still need a permit at any cost, a house partly or fully in a flood hazard area doesn't qualify, and a job can't be split to stay under.
Use the Flood Information page from the city's Development Services, which lets you look up whether a property is in a flood zone. The city says its flood maps keep changing, so check again even if you looked a while back. It matters here because a house in a flood hazard area can't use the small-job exemption above.
Work that needed a permit and didn't get one needs a permit to remove it, or the city charges a penalty of four times the regular permit fee. A hearing officer can also set fines that add up daily and get recorded as a lien on the house, which can make it hard to sell or refinance.
Ask whether they can pull permits in the city. To register for permits, a contractor sends the city a state or county license, a current local business tax receipt, which is the yearly proof of the city's business tax, and certificates for general liability and workers' comp insurance. If you're not doing the work yourself, the city says you have to hire properly licensed contractors.
There's no single number, because a few loose joints and a rebuilt wall are very different jobs. What turns up once old mortar or brick is opened can change the scope, and I'll tell you whether it's bigger or smaller than you feared. The free on-site estimate gives you the number for your job.
Call (561) 220-1584 or send the contact form with a few words about your wall, joints or pavers, and I'll come out to look.
