Foundation repair
When a crack runs through the block at the base of the house or a corner has dropped, we find out why first, then rebuild or reinforce the damaged section.
AJ West Palm Beach Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor working in Lake Worth Beach, FL. We fix crumbling mortar, repair tired brick and block walls, and build new paver, block and stone projects for homes here.

We're based in West Palm Beach and work across the cities around it in Palm Beach County. Lake Worth Beach brings us the same calls we get in Lantana next door and up in Lake Park. That usually means older block and brick houses with crumbling mortar, garden walls that have started to lean and front walks that are due to be redone, plus new paver, block and stone projects.
What moves the price is how much has to come out, whether new brick or stone has to match what's there, how easy the wall is to reach and whether the job needs a permit. The schedule turns on that permit and its inspections, if there is one, and on the start date I give you up front. You get your own figure once I've come out and seen the job. On older houses here, matching the old brick, block or stone is often the part that takes the most work to get right.
I come out, look at the walls, joints or slab, and give you the estimate, so the person who prices your job is the one who answers for it.
The masons who repoint your brick or lay your block work for us, so the plan I walk you through is the plan they follow on the day.
I spent years running the schedule for a busy construction company, so we set a start date you can plan around and show up on it. It's what we're best known for.
When a crack runs through the block at the base of the house or a corner has dropped, we find out why first, then rebuild or reinforce the damaged section.
Older chimneys usually lose their mortar near the top first, so we repair the concrete cap and the loose brick before water works its way down into the house.
We grind out the worn mortar between your bricks and pack in new mortar matched in color, so the wall sheds water again and reads as one wall.
Cracked, flaking or loose bricks get cut out and replaced one at a time, with brick matched as closely as we can to the old size and color.
We dig out the old drive, pack a firm base and lay the pavers on it, because a paver driveway stays only as level as the base under it.
Where a yard steps up or down, we build block or stone retaining walls with drainage behind them, since trapped water is what usually pushes these walls over.
On older brick and stone, we clean, repoint and rebuild what's failed and leave sound original work alone, because the original is usually worth keeping.
We build masonry fireplaces indoors and out, setting the firebox, hearth and surround in brick or stone sized to fit the room or patio around them.
We put stone veneer on block walls, house fronts and columns, with the backing and drainage set so the stone stays put and moisture can get out.
We lay concrete block walls for privacy, property lines and garden borders on a poured footing, reinforced and filled where the wall's height and load call for it.
We lay block foundation walls for additions and new structures, built to the plans and checked as we go, so whatever sits on top starts level and square.
We build the block base, counters and stone or brick facing for outdoor kitchens and grill islands, leaving room for the gas, power and appliances you've picked.
Front walks and side paths in pavers, brick or stone, laid on a packed base and pitched slightly so rain runs off instead of sitting by the door.
New brick garden walls, screen walls and planters, laid on a proper footing with tight joints and matched to your house if you want them to look original.
Natural stone for walls, steps, columns and borders, cut and fitted by hand so each piece sits firmly on the one below it the way stonework should.
When only some joints have gone soft or sandy, we point just those, raking out the bad mortar and refilling it, so you don't pay to redo a sound wall.
Send the form and we'll get back to you within one business day to set a time. I come out, look at the job and give you a free estimate, with no pressure to book.
A photo doesn't show what's behind the face of a wall, so I price the job once I've seen it and know how far the damage goes.
If the job is smaller than you feared, I'll say so, and if it's bigger, you'll know before we start, not halfway through. I'll also tell you what can wait.
We're licensed and fully insured, and every job is backed by our satisfaction guarantee, so you know who's responsible for the work before it starts.
Straight answers to what Lake Worth Beach homeowners usually ask about permits, the building code, flood maps and hiring a masonry contractor.
Usually, yes, if the work is on your house. The city's Building Division issues permits for work that builds, repairs, alters or demolishes a building, so foundation, chimney and house wall work falls under it. For a freestanding wall or pavers, I check with the city before I price it. When a job needs a permit, we pull it and set up the inspections.
Lake Worth Beach uses the Florida Building Code, adopted with its own local administrative amendments. The state code sets how the masonry itself is built, and the city's changes shape how the code is run here. Our masons build to it, and on a permitted job the city's inspector checks the work against it.
Yes. The Palm Beach County Tax Collector requires a local business tax receipt from anyone selling services in the county, including businesses from outside the county that normally serve the public here. A business with a Lake Worth Beach address also needs the city's receipt and business license. The county says the receipt doesn't regulate a business or vouch for its work, so treat it as registration, not a recommendation.
They can on a large job. The county's flood maps, in effect since December 2024, raised the base flood elevation, the flood height the rules measure from, by a foot or more on many parcels. The county says a house whose lowest floor sits below it can stop meeting the rules, so before a big foundation or addition job, I raise it with the permit office.
